Howlers Barber Shop is a new business based in Farmington, Connecticut. With an idea to introduce a new type of barber shop experience in the area, the founder approached Design Swell to help launch the brand.
Design Swell created a full brand experience for this new small business included logo design, brand voice, copywriting, digital strategy and a responsive website with integrated client booking.
The Brand Experience
Howlers Barber Shop had the goal of creating a space that pulls the best traits from independent and barber shop chains. They wanted to provide customers with the personalized experience and attention to detail found in independent shops at the more affordable prices found in chains.
We started the process by learning about the target audience, and developing a list of traits and trends that influence the buying decisions for this market. This information allowed us to plan a Brand Experience for Howlers Barber Shop with the goal developing loyal customers.
The logo was developed in several stages so we could incorporate feedback along the way, with the result being a recognizable and memorable logo. We provided full color and single color versions so the logo could be used for many purposes.
To support the launch of Howlers Barber Shop and ensure brand consistency online and offline, we developed several marketing collateral and merchandise items.
We learned during our research phase that the majority of the target audience would learn about Howlers Barber Shop online, and the website would be the opportunity to convert them into customers.
The Howlers Barber Shop website was designed with a modern, clean aesthetic with minimal pops of color. Using a responsive design with full frame imagery, bold fonts, attracting scrolling features and generous white space, visitors on any device are guided through the browsing process with the goal of booking an appointment through the website.
Visitors are able to find the information they need to convert into paying customers quickly. This intentional design increases conversion rates and positively impacts Howlers Barber Shop’s growth goals.
The founder of Howlers Barber Shop was a season barber but first time business owner. We provided marketing strategy to help get the company launched and on a path towards success.
After setting up a social media presence and registering the business with search engines and map programs, we developed a strategy to get reviews from current and future client at a rapid rate. This strategy was highly successful and gained over 20 reviews for Howlers Barber Shop within the first two weeks. Combined with local media coverage and consistent web traffic, they were able to rank on the first page in Google Maps for barber shops in the area within their first month.
